Best Places to Take your Electric Car Rental

If you’re visiting Key West, there are plenty of great things to see and do. From historic attractions to local cuisine to beaches and beautiful waters all around, you’ll find that you are never bored while you’re on the island. Plus, you’ll feel right at home when you choose an electric car rental to get you around the island during your stay. These rentals are going to make it easy to get where you need to go—but if it’s your first time visiting, you might not be sure where that’s going to be.

Here are some of the best places in Key West to explore with your electric car rental.

The Hemingway Home and Museum

From 1931 to 1939, Ernest Hemingway lived in Key West. His home is now a landmark and museum, where you’ll learn about Hemingway as much as the history of Key West. The admission fee includes a 20 to 30-minute tour and plenty of cats, so watch your step! Hours and pricing are available on the website or by calling ahead.

The Southernmost Point of the Continental U.S.

After the Hemingway Home and Museum, you can hop in your electric car rental and head to the Southernmost Point of the Continental U.S., located on the southern end of Key West. This island is only 90 miles from Cuba, making it closer to Cuba than the U.S., and photo ops with this southernmost location are a must.

Duval Street

Although you’ll probably want to find a parking spot and go for a stroll instead, Duval Street is a must-see when you’re looking for action in the city. It’s full of restaurants, bars, and shopping that will keep everyone entertained for an afternoon or longer. Sloppy Joe’s is the most famous bar in Key West and was opened the day after Prohibition ended.

Mallory Square

Mallory Square is a central point in Key West, and home to some of the most beautiful sunsets on the island. Hundreds of locals and tourists gather in the area every evening, where there are also street performers, food vendors, musicians, and other types of entertainment. Those who are first-timers to the island will want to visit Mallory Square to get a feel for the Key West lifestyle.

Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory

To explore the nature of Key West, you can head to the Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory, where you’ll find plenty of wonders. The small greenhouse is filled with butterflies, tropical plants, and birds of all kinds. The butterflies are super-friendly, so if you’re not into that, you might want to skip this destination. However, it’s a good time for all ages if no one is concerned about butterfly overload.
