You’ve been debating the logistics of using a bicycle, a scooter, or a golf cart, and you’ve landed on a golf cart as the option you’d prefer. Required Equipment to Make the Golf Cart Street Legal

Street legal golf carts are known as low-speed vehicles. As such, they must be equipped with the following equipment:

  • Exterior mirrors on both the driver and passenger sides
  • Windshields
  • Seatbelts for each seat
  • VIN (vehicle identification numbers)
  • Ability to reach speeds of between 20 and 25 miles per hour

In addition to this equipment, people who want to operate a low-speed vehicle must have a valid driver’s license as well as registration and insurance.
